Season 6 of the Mexican version of The Masked Singer premiered on October 20, 2024 and is set to conclude on December 22, 2024.
Production[]
On August 27, 2024, the addition of actress Anahí to the panel of the new season was announced. It was also confirmed that the returning panelists would be Carlos Rivera, Juanpa Zurita, and Martha Higareda, suggesting that Anahí would take Yuri's place, who had been a panelist for five seasons.[1] Shortly afterward, Omar Chaparro and Marisol González were confirmed as host and co-host of the show, respectively.[2]
On September 6, 2024, it was confirmed that filming for the show had started, and its premiere date was set for October 20, 2024. It was also revealed that this season would feature 20 contestants, the highest number of contestants in a season to date.[3]
Among other important updates, it was confirmed that this would be the first season to air simultaneously in both Mexico and the United States, as in previous years, the show used to air months later in the U.S.[4] Even during the press conference, it was mentioned that each country would have its own voting system to determine the winner in the final, allowing for the possibility of each country having a different winner.
Botón Sálvame[]
A new twist is being introduced this season, known as the Botón Sálvame and translated into English as Save Me Button, whose function would be similar to the Ding Dong Keep it On Bell mechanic from the U.S. version. This button, located on the panelists' desk, would allow the panelists to save a contestant from elimination. Each panelist could press the button only once during the season, giving a total of four uses. However, after saving someone with the button, a contestant would still have to reveal their identity. Therefore, the contestants previously saved by the audience would undergo a new vote to determine which contestant would definitely be eliminated.[5]
