Season 3 of the American version of The Masked Singer premiered on February 2, 2020, following Super Bowl LIV, and concluded on May 20, 2020.
Production[]
On May 13, 2019, FOX announced that the series was renewed for a third season, with the season premiering as the lead-out program for Super Bowl LIV on February 2, 2020.[1][2][3] The episodes aired on February 5-March 25 and April 8-15 were followed by season one of new series Lego Masters, while the season finale aired on May 20 was followed by the series premiere of new series Ultimate Tag.
The third season began taping on December 19 and 20, 2019,[4][5] later taping more on January 13, 14, 24, and 25, February 5, 10, 11, 15, 20, 24, and 28, 2020.[6]
On December 30, 2019, it was revealed that all four judges plus Cannon as host would be returning for the season, as well as that the season will contain 18 contestants, bumping it up from season one's 12 contestants and season two's 16 contestants.[7]
On January 7, 2020, it was announced that Jamie Foxx would be a guest panelist on the first episode,[8][9][10] and that Leah Remini and Jason Biggs would serve as guest panelists in later episodes.[11] On February 11, it was revealed that Gabriel Iglesias and Will Arnett would be joining as guest panelists, along with season 1 winner, T-Pain, and Joel McHale returning as guest panelists as well.[12] On March 9, it was announced that Sharon Osbourne (who previously served as a guest panelist on the UK version) and Yvette Nicole Brown would serve as guest panelists for future episodes airing in April.[13]
On March 5, it was revealed that a two-hour "Super Nine" episode would be aired on April 1, with the first ever The Masked Singer sing-along special to be aired on April 14.[14][15] The special was later moved to the following date.[16][17]
On April 8, 2020, it was announced that Cannon would be hosting an after-show titled The Masked Singer: After the Mask, featuring celebrity guests chatting remotely about the night's best moments from the episode. The after-show aired following the episodes on April 22 and 29, as well as May 6 and 13.[18][19][20][21]
