Masked Singer Sverige (stylized as Masked singer Sverige) is the Swedish adaptation of Masked Singer. The series was announced on September 25th, 2019 , and was originally going to premiere in 2020, but was delayed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Its first season premiered on March 26, 2021 and ended on May 21, 2021.

Series Overview

New episodes air on Fridays at 8 PM on TV4. A rerun of that episode usually airs the Saturday after, at 12 PM (11:30 AM or 12:30 PM prior to season 3). Currently, seasons 3-5 can be streamed on TV4 Play and Apple TV.

Trivia

• The very first episode of the show had over 2 million viewers.
• The masks are designed by Pelle Magnestam. According to him, the cost to manufacture a costume usually costs between 120 000 to 240 000 Swedish kronor (approximately around 12 600 to 25 200 American dollars).
• Masked Singer Sverige is the second most watched game show in Sweden behind Melodifestivalen.
  • Ironically, both shows have made fun of each other, and songs from Melodifestivalen has been sung in the former.
• The first 2 seasons are currently lost media, as they have been removed from TV4 Play and can't be viewed anywhere.
• The first season was originally going to be released on August 17, 2021 before being moved up to March 26, 2021. This meant that Masked Singer Sverige was originally going to air on Tuesdays.
  • Strangely, the poster used masks from the American and Australian versions as placeholders. The judges also wore different clothing than in the final version, and the font was different.
• As of the fifth season, if you wanted to binge the entire series with credits and ads, it would take a day and 18 hours.
• The show won "Entertainment Show of the Year" at Kristallen 2021. The show was nominated to the same category and "The Viewers Favorite Show" the following year, but lost to "Alla mot alla" and "Spökjakt" respectively.
• Currently, all winners have been humanoid masks from Group 1 and has also performed in Melodifestivalen at least once.
• Currently, only odd-numbered seasons has introduced masks with glasses.
• To promote the fifth season and the show in general, Swedish hamburger chain MAX released limited edition "idol cards" obtainable by purchasing a kids meal at the restaurant. They were available from March 28, 2025 until May 23, 2025, and these were the first official merchandise for the show.
  • This makes Masked Singer Sverige the third international version to get a fast-food tie-in, after US and UK.
• If all regular masks are counted throughout all 5 seasons, there would be a total of 61 masks (including the second alien in Ufot).
  • If extra masks are counted, like Myskoxen, there would be a total of 65 masks.
  • Additionally, if young/baby versions of masks are counted, there would be a total of 68 masks.
