“ | Let's welcome the first mascot, a butterfly on the moon. | ” |
— The introduction in Episode 3.
|
Bướm Mặt Trăng (Translated as Moon Butterfly) is a masked celebrity contestant on the first Vietnamese season of The Masked Singer Vietnam.
He is first introduced to be one of the mascots from the Section C, together with Phượng Hoàng Lửa, Tí Nâu, Kỳ Đà Hoa and Nhím Uiza.
Characteristics[]
Appearance[]
Bướm Mặt Trăng resembles a fluffy moth that has its body covered in grey fur. The outfit consists of a strapless corset bodysuit, leather orange gloves and high heel sparkly ghoes that are paired with gold and silver glitter fringes. An accompanying moon-themed butterfly wings can be found at the back of the costume, with a color palette of grey and yellow. The mask is a butterfly head with feathery antennae, black bug eyes and a puffball of yellow fur surrounding around the bottom of the mask.

Bướm Mặt Trăng in the third performance.
After the Round 1, the costume is decorated with a broken heart sticker and a teardrop under the eyes in order to match the atmosphere of the song.
Notably, in the All-star concert, the costume is no longer decorated with both the broken heart sticker and the teardrop under the eyes. The costume is the same as the original one in the first two round, except for the silver ornaments styled to look like antennae, attaching to the back of the moon-themed butterfly wings.
Costume 2 (Season 2): In the 15th episode of Season 2, Bướm Mặt Trăng's ensemble is embellished with new garments: a sheer, sequined train appears to attached to the back of the outfit; and the moon-themed butterfly wings growing two long tails that is adorned with lunar design prints.
Personality[]

Bướm Mặt Trăng is impressively.
“ | Thanks you for coming here. Your singing voice is unique and a gift from God. I do admire your voice, you sing with so much emotion and details. You sing with your wisdom, not just with your instincts. Your wide range is the dream of many singers. The most important things is you have your own music style. There are things that are too special to hide, and you are one of a kind!
|
” |
— Trấn Thành commented on Bướm Mặt Trăng after unmasking in Episode 9.
|
Bearing the image of a butterfly, the person inside this mascot has made the audience excited since the early days because it was not clear whether he was male or female. The same goes for his singing voice, which is a genderless, high-pitched, and emotional. It seems that because of this advantage, Bướm Mặt Trăng is a rare vocalist who doesn't bother to hide or fake his voice. With his ascensional voice, Bướm Mặt Trăng always breathe a new breeze into his competition songs, making the songs more uplifting, passionate, inspiring and powerful, making the audience continuously replay them. His high notes made listeners' emotions explode and they continuously praised. Ngô Kiến Huy also exclaimed "Wearing a costume like that but singing is like going for a walk, very leisurely and without any difficulty".

Bướm Mặt Trăng appears gracefully and bustlingly.
Bướm Mặt Trăng's grace allows him to take advantage of every element happening on stage and turn it into his comedy. For example, when Tóc Tiên wondered about Bướm Mặt Trăng act of accentuating every word, he naively replied, "I don't intentionally speak like that, but the voice when transmitted from the microphone through in-ear was delayed, I have to wait to hear my voice before continuing speaking". The advisors continued to laugh crazily and gave him the nickname "Delayed Butterfly".
When repeatedly asked about "the Rain God Trung Quân" - also his true identity, Bướm Mặt Trăng was still very flexible in avoiding it. He told Tóc Tien, he is a butterfly, not Thunderer, so he cannot "delay" the rain. When Wowy deliberately asked about Trung Quân's concert at the acoustic cafe named "Mây Lang Thang" (Wandering Cloud), Bướm Mặt Trăng also denied with a completely convincing reason that butterflies cannot fly to the clouds. Many viewers have left comments expressing their love for this mascot. Most people already know who he is, but what they look forward to most every time he appears is a very sarcastic response from this voice and the way he elevates the songs in the competition.

Unmasking[]

Bướm Mặt Trăng is the 10th place of Season 1.
“ | It has been a long time since I joined a gameshow. Not mention my voice, I want everybody to see my skills that I haven't show. I am so happy since I can see people appreciate what they haven't seen in me. I hope I can comeback in next seasons. | ” |
— Trung Quân in Episode 9.
|
Bướm Mặt Trăng is unmasked to be Trung Quân, who is know as the "Rain God" because of his deep songs about the rain, about broken love, as well as his high pitch and sweet voice. Trung Quân is also nicknamed "God of Stealing Hit Songs", because his voice and handling style are so good that every time he covers a song, he makes the audience so enamored that they even forget the original version. Therefore, there are funny jokes that if Trung Quan sings someone's song, that person will lose the song to Trung Quân forever.
In the moment of parting, Trung Quân still showed his charm until the end. He humorously said that the reason for participating in this show was to freely sing the songs he liked without copyright issues or wasting money, because there was an organizing committee to take care of the copyright purchase. This naive statement made everyone laugh out loud. He also revealed that to play this mascot, he had to practice wearing high heels while walking up and down the stairs in the apartment. Because his apartment is on the same floor as Trấn Thành's apartment, he had to practice very carefully, afraid of being seen by Trấn Thành or anyone. This confession shows Trung Quân's passion and hard work for this show, making everyone very admire.

Bướm Mặt Trăng's glorious departure.
Different from Trung Quân's usual timid and serious attitude, The Masked Singer really exploited his humor and cuteness. The times he interacted with the panelists brought great laughter to everyone. The audience hopes he will keep this "new personality" from this show on. The goodbye song that Trung Quân chose was also very suitable for the situation, it named "Dừng Lại Vẫn Kịp Lúc" (Knowing When To Stop), which also made waves in the past before he came to the show.

Concept and design[]
Bướm Mặt Trăng’s costume was designed by the fashion designer Ngô Mạnh Đông Đông, a mascot with the general appearance of a butterfly, representing the symbol of the moon.
In an interview, Trung Quân shared about the reason why he chose the character “Bướm Mặt Trăng” in the show. When asked about if there was any association between him and the mascot, Trung Quân said he chose the butterfly simply because when he got the costume to try on, it was light and not too bulky to wear like other costumes, and it had nothing to do with his singing voice or anything.
Trung Quân also shared about his experiences when wearing the costume and how it felt like. He said he had to wear a corset, and it was his first time wearing so he couldn’t breathe. Besides, the mascot is hot and stuffy, making it harder for him to breathe, During rehearsal, he was out of breath a lot because he wasn’t used to wearing a corset.

20-centimeter high heels.
Once Trung Quân decided to participate in The Masked Singer Vietnam, he would definitely have to impersonate voices. At first, he intended to impersonate ones and practiced a lot at home, but when he wore the mascot, even singing was very difficult due to how out of breath he was, so he decided to stop and tried his best to sing as possible as he could.
Besides that, this is the first time Trung Quân wears high heels to perfom on stage when joining The Masked Singer Vietnam. For him, it was already very difficult to stand. It took him more than a week to learn to walk in those 20-centimeter high heels.

- Besides, the music video of this song is the sequel to "Tình Nào Không Như Tình Đầu" (No Love Is Like The First Love), another music video of Trung Quân, both videos are a seamless story about the emotional unfinished love of two boys.

- Keep Me In Love (Episode 3): There is a mention of "ngọc ngà" in the lyrics of the song. "Ngọc ngà" ("jade-like", "ivory-like") means "beautiful and precious like jade, like ivory". The word is usually used to refer to the beauty of a woman's body.

- ↑ This flirty sentence is also a pun between "dòng nhạc" (type of music) and "vòng tay" (arm), because "dòng" and "vòng" are pronounced quite similarly in Vietnamese.
